Annual poster of Hangar 23, a theater in Rouen dedicated to dance, theater, circus and world / urban music. The theater is located on the port of Rouen, surrounded by (and partly built with) containers. These containers inspired the visual identity of the theater : the wordmark is set in a special weight of Garaje 0703 Monospace Black, in a frame that takes the shape of the facade of the building.

The Métropole Rhin-Rhône area has brought together several cities between France, Switzerland and Germany, connected in 2010 by a high-speed train line. To materialize this network, a major cultural operation was imagined, utopies & innovations. Under the general curation of Laurent Gerverau, these are 12 local themes, and dozens of exhibitions that are scheduled throughout 2010, around these concepts.
It seemed difficult to illustrate these concepts with a single image: also, I preferred to propose an alphabet, which constitutes the visual identity, and ensures the link between the multiple variations. It is used to compose the logotype, which was designed when the Metropolis had only 9 cities; they were symbolized by the 9 points that appeared in the words "utopias & innovations", like 9 points on a map, network, route ... The metropolis then moved to 16 cities, but the logo remained the same.
All the posters of utopias & innovations are built on the same template, and are based on the typography that was created exclusively for the project. The titles and the modules that compose them are pretexts for games of forms, accompanied by dotted lines. AB B-Dot2 and AB B-Line by André Baldinger are used as accompaniment.
On the generic poster is superimposed on the geography of the territory (the Rhine, the Rhône, the borders and the cities of the network) an imaginary cartography. We find there the detail of the visuals of each city: molecules, plant, mechanical, or abstract forms.

Programme of the 8th edition of the festival Émergences, a week dedicated to young creation in Besançon. For this edition of Émergences, the last I designed, I made a compromise by adding a color, that of the post-it notes, a last reference to the paper medium which, glued, torn or folded, formed the basis of the identity of this event. 32 p., terribly printed by the Imprimerie municipale.

Born in Russia, André Pavlovski (1891-1961) brought modernism to basque architecture in the 1930s. For its first publication, I proposed to Kantia editor, based in Saint-Jean-de-Luz (in a beautiful Pavlovski house) to imagine a series of poster inspired by his most emblematic work, the Harbor Lights of the city. Two asymetrical towers, on both sides of the port, one in white and red (Saint-Jean) the other in white and green (Ciboure). I studied Pavlovsky architecural vocabulary, made of flat asymetrical surfaces and geometry, and proposed a complex graphic system to produce a series of posters. 4 compositions present one view of Saint-Jean, one of Ciboure, and two of both harbor lights, in 3 colors : Blue, Red and Green. Blue defines the sky and the silhouettes of the buildings : printed in split fountain, it evolves from dawn to dusk. The composition allows green and red colors to be combined upside up and upside down, to reveal several views of the harbors, and create imaginary ones. In one single print-run, 168 different posters were produced with Lézard Graphique, in Brumath. Some posters are still available at www.kantia.eu. 26 posters of the series were presented at the Rotonde, a beautiful circular gallery by Robert Mallet-Stevens in Saint-Jean de Luz, in Spring 2013.

I collect Lip watches, especially the models of the 1970’s designed by Rudi Meyer and Roger Tallon. When my friend Aurélien Jeanney created, with Mathieu Blondeau, Maison Tangible, he first published a collection entitled Vesontio, an hommage to our city. Lip factory has an epic story here, and after a long absence, it came back to Besançon. This poster is an hommage to the iconic Lip logo, made with the silhouettes of watches.
